Players can earn special rewards by participating in Team Racing and collecting Golden Hay.
What is Golden Hay?
Winning teams are awarded points in the form of Golden Hay. Once 100 Golden Hay has been earned, it can be converted into a Golden Haystack.
The number of teams that will be awarded Golden Hay is based on the number of teams competing in that week. If more teams participate in the weekly competition, more of the teams that finish at the top of the scoreboard will be awarded Golden Hay.
How much Golden Hay can I win?
The top team for the week will be awarded 100 Golden Hay (each player). Runners up are considered to be the top 25% of teams, where the number of teams equals the number of active teams in the previous week (not the current week).
Runners up will receive a lesser amount of Golden Hay based on a pool and taking into account the number of competing teams each week.
So for example, if there are 20 teams competing, the Top 25% of the Teams is places 1-5.
The Golden Hay awarded in this scenario is as follows;
1st Place 100 Golden Hay
2nd Place 80 Golden Hay
3rd Place 60 Golden Hay
4th Place 40 Golden Hay
5th Place 20 Golden Hay
If there were only 12 teams competing during the week, then the Top 25% of Teams is places 1-3.

2nd Place 66 Golden Hay
3rd Place 33 Golden Hay
What is a Golden Haystack?
To check your progress on collecting Golden Hay, visit your Teams Page by clicking the Team banner on your Player Profile.
Once your Golden Hay progress bar has reached 100 Golden Hay and says “READY”, tap on the Hay Progress bar in your Teams view to be given the option to convert your Golden Hay into a Golden Haystack.
The Golden Haystack has hidden Level 2 (Great) and Level 3 (Superior) equipment as a reward for your racing efforts. Once you have converted your Golden Hay to a Golden Haystack, tap on the Haystack to reveal your prize!
Level 3 items have a much greater effect than Level 2 or Level 1 items and take longer to break down. This means they need to be re-equipped far less often than the lower graded items.
If you are a Hardcore player, you will be able to choose between saddles or shoes. However, the specific type of shoe or saddle will be random. If the saddle is selected, the saddle design will be in your team colours. Go Team!!
Note: You will still need to be VIP to equip the saddle.
Non-Hardcore players will be awarded Level 2 or Level 3 horseshoes of a random type (track condition, training, track type).
Converting items
The items that are awarded by Golden Haystacks are unique (regardless of whether they are Level 2 or Level 3) because they can also be converted back into (a lesser amount of) Golden Hay at the Blacksmith.
If you receive duplicate items, or to try for a better item, you can select the “Haystack” filter at the Blacksmith to sort these unique items. If you opt to destroy Haystack items, you will be awarded an amount of Golden Hay for breaking the item down. Destroying a Level 2 item gives you 40 Golden Hay, destroying a Level 3 item will return 80 Golden Hay.
Once you have accumulated 100 Golden Hay, you will be able to convert it into another Golden Haystack.
What happens if I earn more than 100 Golden Hay?
If you earn over 100 Golden Hay, (e.g. you broke down a Level 2 and Level 3 item 80 GH + 40 GH) or won an amount of Golden Hay that exceeds the limit of the 100 Golden Hay progress bar, it will still keep track of how much Golden Hay you have earned so you can use that excess Golden Hay as credit towards your next Golden Haystack.
What happens to my Golden Hay if my Racing Team is disbanded or I am booted from a Racing Team?
If your team is disbanded or you are removed from a team, you will not lose any Golden Hay that you have previously earned. However, you will not be able to access your Golden Hay or convert to a Golden Haystack again until you either create or join another Racing Team.
