Races

Racing is the main way to earn money, progress your horses and compete with other players in Hooves of Fire. Each horse can only enter certain races based on its pedigree, age, wins, gender and race restrictions. Understanding how races work is essential for improving performance in this online horse racing game.

How to Access Races

From Stables

• Open Stables

• Select a horse

• Click Race

• Choose a suitable race

From the Town Map

• In Stables, click the Map icon

• Select Races

• Browse upcoming races and enter directly

Race Eligibility

Eligibility is determined by:

• Pedigree rating

• Horse age

• Wins

• Gender

• Country type

• Race restrictions

Pedigree Entry Requirements

• Starter Countries – Players with fewer than 10 wins

• Beginner – Pedigree 1–10

• Intermediate – Pedigree 8–15

• Pro – Pedigree 13–20

• Champions (VIP) – Pedigree 18–25

• Elite (VIP) – Pedigree 23–30

• Open – All pedigrees

• Evo – Pedigree 31+ (Hardcore + Race of Evolution win required)

Other Restrictions

• No wins – Horse must have 0 wins

• Newborns – Under 1 day old

• 4–8 days – Horses aged 4–8 days

• 9+ days – Horses 9 days or older

• Gender‑specific – Geldings, stallions or mares only

Country Types

Countries with a + symbol include more Group 1 and Group 2 races. Any horse can enter Open races regardless of pedigree.

Race Groups

Race Groups show how strong a horse is based on its win count.

• All horses start in Group 3

• At 20 wins, a horse becomes Group 2

• At 50 wins, a horse becomes Group 1

Higher groups offer higher prize money and tougher competition.

How to Enter a Race

Via Stables

• Go to Stables

• Select a horse

• Click Race

• Choose an eligible race

Via the Races Window

• Click Races

• Highlight an upcoming race

• Click Enter Horse

• Select an eligible horse

Race Lengths and Track Conditions

Every horse has hidden strength and endurance stats.

• Strength suits shorter races (6000m, 8000m)

• Endurance suits longer races (12000m, 14000m)

Horses also have track condition preferences. VIP players can see these preferences directly. Choosing the right distance and conditions improves race performance.

Cup Races

Cup races offer:

• Higher prize money

• Stronger competition

• Achievement rewards

Cup races may require:

• Minimum prize money earned

• A recent race win

• Pedigree thresholds

• VIP‑only access

Evo Cup Rewards

Cup races in Evo countries award 10 Golden Hay, which Racing Teams can use to create haystacks that may contain rare items.

Race Slot Expansion

When a race fills up:

• A 6‑horse race expands to 8 slots

• An 8‑horse race expands to 10 slots

Prize money increases when the race expands.

Special Races

Race of Champions

Winning this race turns your account Hardcore. Make sure you understand the Hardcore rules before entering.

Race of Evolution

Winning this race evolves a Pedigree 30 horse into Pedigree 31. Requirements:

• Hardcore account

• Pedigree 30 horse

Camera Controls (PC Only)

During a race, you can change the camera view:

• Lead follows the horse currently in front

• Numbered icons follow a specific horse

• You can switch views at any time
